Comparing a air duct before cleaning and after cleaning.

Time for an Air Duct Cleaning?

Air Duct cleaning and repair is an important part of your systems maintenance and one that is often overlooked. Do you know when the last time you checked your homes air ducts? What about your businesses? While air ducts only need to be cleaned on an “as-needed” basis, it’s vital that they are cleaned properly and inspected thoroughly. Our services include Air Duct cleaning and repair for your home or business.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends that air ducts be cleaned on an as-needed basis to prevent mold, infestation, and/or debris. All three of these complications can be avoided with a professional cleaning, one that can improve your air quality and quite possibly improve your health. Mold, in particular, can form in the areas where the air duct is difficult to reach, where moisture is gathered. These sections of your air ducts that cannot be visibly checked are the areas that should be inspected thoroughly to ensure a properly functioning and safe system. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the most effective way of making sure your system is functioning properly is to prevent water or dust from entering the system.

A maintained and cared for system can improve the efficiency and even increase the longevity of your Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. When your home or business is considering inspecting and cleaning your air ducts, it is important that you choose a professional to properly take care of your system.

Below are a few key points, provided by the EPA, on what to look for when choosing a Duct Cleaning Service Provider:

  • Do not allow the use of chemical biocides or chemical treatments unless you fully understand the pros and the cons
  • Check references to be sure other customers were satisfied and did not experience any problems with their heating and cooling system after cleaning.
  • Contact your county or city office of consumer affairs or local Better Business Bureau to determine if complaints have been lodged against any of the companies you are considering.
  • Interview potential service providers to ensure: they are experienced in duct cleaning and have worked on systems like yours; they will use procedures to protect you, your pets, and your home from contamination; and they comply with NADCA‘s air duct cleaning standards and, if your ducts are constructed of fiber glass duct board or insulated internally with fiber glass duct liner, with the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association’s (NAIMA) recommendations
  • Ask the service provider whether they hold any relevant state licenses
