Florida summers can be brutal—gorgeous, but brutal. The summers are getting hotter and its important to protect yourself and your family. Enjoy the outdoors but have a cool home to return to. At Bruno Air Conditioning we are committed to our customer’s safety. We encourage energy efficiency without having to sacrifice comfort. You’ve heard us praise eco-friendly products in the past but we haven’t even scratched the surface. You would be surprised how many ways there are to save energy in a cost effective way. Some of the easier ways to explore HVAC savings include:
- Regularly change your filters!
- Adapt your temperature settings to fit your lifestyle; if you’re going to be gone for an extended period of time, try turning off your unit or keep it at a solid temperature. Think about investing in a Smart thermostat for maximum energy efficiency.
- Utilize your fans; ceiling fans, portable fans, use what you have to improve airflow in your home.
- Reduce sun exposure in the home if you can. Shut blinds, close doors, and keep the inside cool.
Ways to save energy this summer though, are in the plenty. If you want to save even more, there are cooling systems and ventilation systems that you can choose from to maximize cost effective; Evaporative Cooling and Absorption Cooling.
Evaporative Cooling uses water to cool the outdoor air from the house as well as push heat out of the home through the windows. This can be very effective in the Florida area where the climate is usually dry. Evaporative coolers continually push warm air out from the windows as they fresh, cool air comes in.
Absorption Cooling is used for mostly for commercial purposes but are now available for residential use. This cooling is very similar to standard air conditioners except that instead of electricity, absorption coolers get their energy by using heat from solar-heated water or natural gas.
